About
Maria Saridou
I am a political scientist interested in the relationship between social policy, labour markets, migration, and political outcomes in Europe. My work focuses on how welfare regimes shape the effects of unemployment and immigration, and how institutions mediate broader political and social pressures.

Current work
My ongoing research examines how social policy regimes mediate the relationship between immigration and unemployment across EU member states between 2010 and 2019. I am particularly interested in why similar economic shocks produce different political and social trajectories depending on the institutional context.
